In this episode of “Lithium – Experts Speak,” economist and former Governor of the National Bank of Serbia, Prof. Dr. Dejan Šoškić, discusses the economic aspects and dilemmas surrounding the Jadar lithium mining project.
Based on available data and analyses, Professor Šoškić points out that the expected benefits for Serbia are very limited and uncertain. According to calculations he conducted with his colleagues, the annual revenue for the state could amount to just €2.6 per capita.
He also warns that this is a risky and untested venture being carried out by a company with no prior experience, which further increases the economic uncertainty.
Watch the episode to find out why the issue of lithium goes beyond environmental concerns – and becomes a matter of economic rationality and long-term responsibility.
