The number of citizens opposing the opening of lithium mines in the Jadar Valley continues to rise, while two-thirds of the population believe that the greatest beneficiaries would be the current government, the company Rio Tinto, Germany, and the EU.
According to the latest survey by the Nova Srpska Politička Misao (NSPM), 63.5% of Serbian citizens oppose the lithium mining project, meaning that opponents outnumber supporters by more than 3 to 1.

The survey also reveals that two-thirds of citizens believe the primary beneficiaries of the mining project would be the current government, Rio Tinto, Germany, and the European Union, while citizens are growing increasingly skeptical about the actual benefits for Serbia and its people.

These findings further fuel public debate about the potential ecological, economic, and social consequences of the project and highlight growing concerns among citizens about the long-term impact of opening the mine.
The survey was conducted between March 1 and 10 (Serbia excluding KiM), with a representative sample of 1,050 respondents.
